The Finestkind is a Portland, Maine based all-star troupe assembled by drummer Dan Boyden. Serving as the house band for Finestkind Music, the group of seasoned session players and performers blend their soulful sound across genres all in service to the song and the groove.
Launched in 2023 at a residency at Portland House of Music, the band debuted with a marathon variety show, backing nine artists over four weeks, including Lyle Divinsky, Kenya Hall, Spencer Albee and Connor Garvey. For the artists performing with the band, “It’s like driving a Ferrari” says Albee. For the audience, it's an invitation to experience the breadth of talent coming out of Maine. Though they may not know the individual artists or performers, they always know that when The Fineskind comes to town, they'll be in for a treat.
